This program is for Masters (19 yrs +) athletes who are interested in skiing for fitness and competition - but have other life priorities such as school, work, and/or family. Masters Racers enjoy a season of coached on-snow sessions from December to March, and dry-land training opportunities May to November. Improve your technical and tactical skills in both classic and skate technique, improve your fitness to cruiser level or blaster level, you choose. The best part of this program is the people, ski enthusiast to keen competitor, that you get to meet, train and ski with.

The primary focus for this team is the BC Cup Series, our very own Vancouver Island Loppet and the season finale, the Tour de Strathcona. Masters may also compete at the Callaghan Valley’s P’ayakentsut Loppet. After a very fun and successful Masters team trip across the pond to participate in the 2018 P’ayak, this race is sure to become a staple of the Masters Race program.

Dry-land training takes place in the spring (May & June) and fall (September to November) on a drop-in basis.

  • Wednesday, 9 to 11am or 6 to 8pm

  • Trail runs, hikes, roller skiing or ski striding sessions are scheduled 2-3 times per month during the dry-land season.

  • Masters Race athletes also join in on summer club run/hikes.

Winter training includes dedicated Masters’ sessions on:

  • Wednesday, 9:30 to11:30am or 6 to 8pm

  • Sunday, 1 to 3pm.

Strathcona Nordics Head Coach Andrea Stapff works with this group along with club assistant coaches. Individually designed training programs and extra race support and testing services are available on a user fee basis.
