The Fine Detail

Athlete development is an integral part of our club mandate. Fundraising support for athlete development has two pathways: general non-charitable fundraising contributions and specific charitable fundraising contributions.

Funds donated for charitable purposes are restricted to support for coaching development and equipment purchases (as per CRA guidelines) and must be submitted through Nordiq Canada directed to the Dave Battison Memorial Athlete Development Fund.

The Club’s general fundraising (non-charitable) activities include events, grant applications, corporate partnerships, and both solicited and unsolicited donations from inside and outside of the Club. Non charitable fundraising may be directed, among other things, to payments, grants, bursaries or subsidies to individual athletes or participants in the club’s athlete and skill development programs as well as general club fundraising goals.

Disbursements from the Dave Battison Memorial Athlete Development Fund are overseen by a sub-committee of the Club Board consisting of 2 directors (including the Director of Athlete Development), 2 parents, and 2 coaching staff.

Compliance with Canada Revenue Agency rules and Nordiq Canada’s, Charitable Donations Policy will be assessed for all disbursements from the fund directed through the Nordiq Canada pathway.
